Michael Kenna - Seaweed Farms, Study 3, Xiapu, China, 2010

After I reviewed past days, two young photographers of minimalist style, today I present briefly a  guru photo  minimalist style – Michael Kenna, a true missionary of this style. Kenna uses Hasselblad, medium format, most often use Holga camera, atypical-square format, film photography and long exposures, sometimes even 10 hours. Reviewing photos of this artist you can not feel a sense of tranquility and calm. It would be much to say about Kenna but I will let you admire the pictures in the video below, a review of his works.

Josef Hoflehner – minimalism inteligent

Voi continua lista fotografilor care imi plac cu Josef Hoflehner, un fotograf austriac care pot spune este extraordinar in stilul de fotografie alb-negru, minimalist, neutru, foloseste la maxim expunerile lungi, contrastele tari insa si finetea luminii atunci can e nevoie. Fiecare imagine a sa iti deschide poarta unei povesti.

South Beach 01 - Miami Beach, Florida, 2010

I will continue my list of photographers I like with Josef Hoflehner, an Austrian photographer, which I can say is great in black and white photography style, minimalist, neutral. He use at maximum long exposures, but strong contrasts of light and finesse needed when performed. Each picture has a story to your door open. Sometimes, sometimes surreal world of extraordinary realism in his pictures described by Hoflehner is stunned in a loop as wanted timeless and manages to show us. Ordinary landscapes like the one below make you want to know how he managed to have a vision so clear over an image, in fact, ordinary in another presentation.

TORII by Michael Levin

I found these days, while I was looking for informations about black and white photography, a Canadian photographer who has an ability to turn any scene into something detached from another world, its frames have an amazing sensitivity. Just playing with light, the contrasts are subtle, yet highlight subjects . Once again, is confirmed the statement that simplicity is the hardest to get, but Michael Levin, manages to achieve that easily with such a simplicity that just delight us.
